Celebrity Fitness was founded in 2003 by former employees of the 24 Hour Fitness chain, George Cole, Vincent Dales and Terry Hopkinns. Their first employee was local Malaysian Ansri Khalid, now a member of the senior management team. Celebrity commenced operations in February 2004 with the opening of a club in Sarawak.
